Star Date 11262012: The Tenth Post (DTC 355)

I intend to follow the 10 tips suggested by Smashing Magazine because they have valid reasoning for each suggestion. Most portfolios need a way to contact a person and a breadth of art/work that makes them stand out from other people. The audience needs a way to figure out what the person is about and why they would be good to hire.

Website wise their explaination of the structure and format make sense since people need visuals whether or not that is their favorite mode. They need a layout that is both organized with proximity and space, but the site needs to be unique enough for the audience to think that the owner of the site is unique and a necessity to the company or the job.

I like a lot of different sites such as the:

Jay Hafling website since it is both clean cut and interesting to look at. It could be boring to some, but it is more unique and not quite as cluttered as other websites. I mostly like a design that feels personal and appropriate for the person/website.

To learn how to make some of these websites I would probably have to understand java, xml/xhtml, and jquery since many portfolio tutorials/templates tend to use those to make a website more interactive with the audience. Being able to interact with the website is always high on my priorities when I look at a website.
